Welcome to the San Bruno / South San Francisco 4-H Club!
WELCOME TO 4-H!
In 4-H, youth design and participate in their own programs and activities. This unique learn-by-doing model teaches essential skills that youth will use throughout their lives. Whether its building rockets, raising companion dogs, or planting vegetables, 4-H gives young people the skills they need to thrive and succeed throughout their lives. Click here for more information on 4-H in San Mateo County.
We have lots of activities at the San Bruno/South San Francisco club, including raising animals, gardening, crafts and more for youth ages 7-19. We have a small farm in San Bruno and a vegetable garden at the San Bruno Community Gardens next door.
Come visit us at our next 4-H Open House on Sunday, October 23rd, from 1-4pm! Or come to our monthly general meeting at 7pm, the second Wednesday of each month, at Belle Air School, 350 3rd Avenue, San Bruno. We hope to see you there
Directions to farm: From El Camino Real in San Bruno, take Angus Avenue east. After crossing the CalTrain tracks, turn right on 1st Avenue. Continue past the Lions Baseball Field, and the SB Community Gardens. The 4-H Farm is at the end of the road.
May 2011 Minutes
The May General Meeting was called to order on Wednesday the 11th at 7:15pm. Johanna led the flag salute and Tristan led the 4-H pledge. A sign-in sheet for attendance was sent around. The March minutes were reviewed and approved. The treasurer reported that we have a balance of $14,404.15, after a $400 donation; we will use $1,100.00 for starting the park snack booth. The barn boss reported that Callie, one of the goats, gave birth to three boys and one girl, among other animal news. For old business, all those that attended the Bark for Life walk and San Bruno’s Operation Clean Sweep stood and talked about what they did and what they enjoyed doing.
***Raffle***
For new business, there will be a youth leadership meeting on May 16th, farm clean-up will be on May 22nd and open house will be on the 23rd. The state field day will be at U.C. Davis on May 28th, the county fair barn set-up is June 4th, and the Posy Parade is June 5th. During the San Mateo County Fair, we will have a cake booth day and a pen pride ticket sales day. We approved the relocation of the funds set aside for reimbursing animal bedding fees to be used for other purposes as needed. To be a member in good standing, every member needs to participate in at least two San Bruno snack bar shifts. Two representatives of the camp presented information on this years 4-H Summer Camp (the theme is Nintendo) and talked about all the fun activities available. Camp scholarships are available. Nominations for executive board and other positions were held. Project Announcements. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.
